Aika's Baptism!

Aika's Baptism!

This post is 3 months overdue! Well, Hello World again. I’m here to write about what happened to my daughters Baptismal Ceremony.

It was March 4, 2012 when Baby Aika has been baptized and entered the Christian World. So, what had happened?
Shrine of Jesus, MOA

Church:  Shrine of Jesus, The Way The Truth and The Life.
There is a certain baptismal hall at the side of the church. Our schedule was 11:30am - 12:00 noon. We were there early and so were the Godmothers and Godfathers. The ceremony was solemn since the baptismal hall was closed. There was no seminar prior to the ceremony but the priest explained everything about why we need to baptize our baby and etc. It was quick yet memorable for us. After the picture taking, we proceeded to Shakey’s Blue Wave for lunch.

Reception:  Shakey’s Blue Wave.
At first I thought the venue was small for 70 persons but luckily it was just enough and I’m not so sure how many pax have attended. When we got there, we found all the other hungry guests waiting for us and excited to see baby Aika. I checked the balloons and yes they were properly arranged. The cake was delivered on time and also giveaways are piled in one corner. We started with a prayer and lunch was served.

We spent 2 hours in the reception venue and I think it was just enough because we only have to eat and chitchat. The staffs and crew were accommodating especially the manager (I forgot the name). The food was great and we happened to take home MORE pizza, chicken and spaghetti. Some of our guests were not able to come so the food was overflowing.

Balloons:  DIY. We bought all the materials at Divisoria. Thanks to my family who helped with the balloons.

Cake:  I got it from PH Bakehouse. I just found her on Facebook. A cake with cupcakes.  One word - Delicious!

Aika’s  Outfit – Her white Dress and shoes was bought at SM Makati. The second outfit was from Divisoria ;)

Reception Outfit

Invites - I just made an online version of it. Here it is!

Giveaways:  We went to Divisoria and found cute pink cradle figurine with a clock attached on it but we got lost at 168 Mall and were not able to see the store again so we ended up at LandMark Makati and bought pink figurines or a sort of container..etc. See pic below.

Tarpaulin:  Another Do-it-yourself masterpiece of mine. Haha! We also have it printed at Divisoria Mall.
Not a good shot of the tarpaulin because it was hanged by the window
Van:  We found a Van for rent at Sulit.com.ph. The driver was nice and we even gave him a Big Box of pizza (from our take home left over). We rented it for two days.

Since my family was complete, we have also decided to do a House Blessing the day before Aikas Baptism.

It was the busiest but one of happiest moment of my life, and one of Aika's milestones as well.

More Pictures:

She was sleeping the whole time at  the reception venue

Baptism Preparation Update

Planning for Aika's Baptism is not as easy as a snap of my finger :) But this could have been quick if only hubby and I have enough time to do the preparations together. With less than 20 days before Aikas Baptism Ceremony, I think we have done 50% so far. Here are the updates:

Church: Done (Shrine of Jesus, The Way The Truth and The Life )

Reception: Done, paid 50% (Shakeys, Blue Wave)

Invitations: Half done. I sent the link of her invitation thru email and facebook. Other guests who dont have access online will be given print copy and that we haven't done yet

Aika's Outfit: White dress and shoes for the ceremony - haven't bought yet
Dress and shoes for reception - Done
               Other accessories - still looking/waiting

Contacting Sponsors/Guests: Done. Others have not confirmed yet, while the others can't come :(

Giveaways: Still searching for ideas

Tarpaulin: Done

Cake: Paid already

Balloons: Done with ideas and arrangements. Will have to buy more.

Van: Still on canvass

Need to buy home stuff for my visitors, and make itinerary for family's vacation as well. I'm so looking forward to this day not only because of Aika's baptism but also because my family is coming and yes, they're complete :)

Modern Cloth Diaper

Zebra Print Alva Pocket Diaper
(Bamboo Insert)

I learned about modern cloth nappies when Aika was 3 weeks old already and I started loving it. Lots of mommies have gone crazy and addicted for cloth diapers. If you think it's pricey, yes you're right but eventually it will leave you with great savings rather than using the disposables. Most modern cloth diapers have One-size-fits-all which has adjustable size so your baby can wear it from newborn until they grow older. Immagine how much money you'll save from buying disposables and how many wastes you'll spare from throwing dirty disposables away. Thus, by using cloth nappies, we can help save mother earth!

Thirsties Diaper Cover
(lampin inside)
There are many variaties, types and styles of modern cloth diapers. With diaper covers, you can still use the traditional lampin if you want without worrying about leaks. I like using diaper covers with lampin to make use all the lampins that I brought when I was still pregnant.

I will share you some links with articles about cloth diapers to clear things up if you still have no idea or in doubt about it:

(found these articles from google).
Benefits of Using Cloth Diapers
Advantages Of Cloth Diapers And Tips For Picking The Right Ones

I bought few pockets diapers and diaper covers so Aika can give it a try. Of course I go for One-Size-Fits-All for practical reason so Aika can wear them for a long time. It works for my baby with no problem at all. Pockets with inserts, Covers/Shells with lampin - all do good. We still use disposables at night, but I'm trying to collect more to add to my stash so Aika can proudly wear cloth diapers all day and all night.

Baby Aikai's Baptism Invitation

New Page 2
 Baby Aikai's Baptism Invitation

We kindly request all the sponsors to be punctual because the church is very strict about time as they consider other baptism schedules. The door will be closed once the ceremony starts.

The baptism ceremony would only last 15 minutes and another 15 minutes for picture taking. Lunch will immediately follow at Shakeys Blue Wave. See you all!

Some guests have requested for a wishlist so they would not end up buying gifts not needed by the little girl. So I made a list of stuff to look at. Click here! But please be reminded that this is not a requirement/compulsory :) What's important is your presence for this special event.

Busy for Baptism

Hello there, I'm back and still busy-busyhan as ever! We are preparing for Baby Aika's baptism this coming March 2012. We are so excited because my family are ready to fasten their seat belts and fly all the way from Cagayan de Oro City and, hubby's family also who will be travelling from Mindoro to Manila by boat. They are also looking forward to see Baby Aika again :)

We want this event to be very accessible to all our guests thus, we searched for churches around Manila so it will not be hassle for them to go to our place in Cavite. We chose the  Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus, The Way, The Truth and The Life Church which is located besides Mall of Asia and the reception would be at the restaurant located nearby. We are preparing for this event according to our budget so we have to keep it simple yet memorable especially to the people and of course to Baby Aika who's going to receive the sacrament of baptism.

I will write an update about this baptism preparation later.

What's up?

Hello there!

1 month old
It has been a month or more since I made an update to my blog. I have been very busy in my mommy career and office work. I have encountered lots of first times. Aside from being pregnant and giving birth for the first time, it was also my first time to carry a little new born child, first time to wipe baby's poop and also my first time to put a baby to sleep. All of these activities are difficult for me and should be learned through  process. I have to be healthy enough to handle sleepless nights and to understand baby's wants and need through crying. Things are very much different now and our lives became more meaningful.
Putting her to sleep

After a month, I decided to go back to work where tons of workloads await me. I have to go home right after work to spend time with Aika while she's still awake. Sometimes we put her to sleep until 1am and wake up after 2 to 3 hours for milk time and diaper change. I have to wake up at 4:30am to get ready for my early work. Busy as ever, but a ME time is always important and I never fail to look at myself in the mirror and think about my needs and wants once in a while.

Now this is motherhood. I may never do the same things that I used to do before but right now I feel a different kind of happiness and fulfillment of being a woman.
