Yummy TAHO

Taho or soy yogurt is known to be one of the Philippine street foods loved by children as well as adults every morning.  But nowadays, you can also hear the taho vendor called "magtataho" in the afternoon.  You can even see some vendor stalls in the malls selling taho and other soybeans products so everybody can enjoy it anytime.

Taho is made of processed soybean which appears to be like soft gelatin tofu, tapioca (or locally known as sago) and topped with caramel syrup.  It usually poured into a plastic cup with spoon or straw but others prefer to slurp it directly from the cup.

The taho is not just a yummy snack but it is also packed with nutrients such as:  protein, fat, carbohydrate, calcium, iron, folic acid (good for pregnant women), phosphorus and many others.  Thus, it is considered as a healthy food snack.  However, you still don’t know if the taho you are buying is safe and clean enough because as I said, it is a street food and most likely not tested by the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD).  But if you know your magtataho well enough and you assure that the taho you’re eating is clean and safe then  go and grab some, but otherwise, it would take risk just like eating any other street foods in town.

It has been years since I last tasted a taho so I bought a cup of delicious taho last week when I’m on my way to work.
